Underground is a Buenos Aires-based production company, recognized for creating bold content with powerful stories that challenge conventions and resonate across cultures.
Founded in 2006, Underground is a division of NBCUniversal Telemundo Studios led by Sebastián Ortega and Pablo Culell, who have consistently pushed the boundaries of Argentine television and fiction. From cult series such as Lalola and Los Exitosos Pells to critically acclaimed productions such as El Marginal, its creations combine originality, social relevance, and cinematic quality. Today, as part of a major U.S. media group, the company is entering a new stage—expanding its vision, crossing borders, and remaining faithful to what defines it: storytelling with soul, edge, and no compromises.

Sebastián Ortega
Founder
Argentine audiovisual producer and creative director. He began his career in Argentine television in 2001 after training in the United States. After a distinguished tenure in the art direction department at Ideas del Sur, he founded his own production company, Underground, in 2006, where he developed content that continues to earn ratings success, awards, and recognition from specialized critics.
He currently serves as SVP, Creative Director at Telemundo Studios.
Pablo Culell
Argentine Audiovisual Producer
Argentine audiovisual producer, with a degree in Journalism and Social Communication (USAL). He began his career in 1992 and went on to become executive producer at Canal 13. He served as an advisor to the Artistic Direction at América TV, and as a lecturer, speaker, and co-author of the book Nacidos para contar. In 2001, he joined Sebastián Ortega in a creative partnership and worked as general and creative producer at Ideas del Sur until 2005. Since 2006, he has led content and production at Underground Productions, and today serves as VP of Original Content Development at Telemundo Studios, where he also oversees Underground productions as an executive.
